Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This is the modern way to donate to charities and in this case to the Prince's Trust. If you make a donation, your money will go directly to the charity so it's a very efficient way to help.
On 6th of October 2017 I lost two lobes of my right lung to a Carcinoid tumour. I was encouraged to use an exercise bike only 36 hours after my surgery. I tried hard to use an exercise bike at home but I couldn't really use it for months. On New Year's Day 2018 I pulled my old steel bike out of the shed and started to ride on the roads. It snowed and I found it really difficult but persevered and rode for health reasons whilst also fundraising as an ex firefighter, for the fire charity.
In 2018 I rode over 1,800 miles raising over £1,800 for the Fire Fighters Charity. This year I also raised over £400 for Winton Bear Foundation for the welfare of bears through my cycling. I realise that I am very privileged in many ways and I've decided to try to set an example to our younger generation by riding with them in a cycling event for a very worthwhile cause. Now I am over 65 I have allowed myself a slightly lighter bike but my legs get older and hills seem to be always uphill, steep and into wind and October could be very cold and wet!
I chose the shorter route so that I might actually enjoy this one more than I would if I was being severely challenged. It could be good!!
