We are a lifeline to academics at risk

Charity Registration No. 207471

Story

The Oxford-Cambridge bike ride is an annual fundraising tradition at Pembroke College. A group of students, led by James Gardom, cycle the 85 mile route to raise funds for a chosen charity. This year, the cycle was planned to take place on 9th May in support of CARA (the Council for At-Risk Academics).

Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus outbreak and the U.K lockdown measures the cycle is unable to happen. However, a virtual lockdown cycle is taking place instead. By adhering to the local government lockdown rules, the group will individually complete the 85 mile cycle over the course of the week commencing 9th May. This year the group taking on the challenge consists of James Gardom, Damien Pollard, Chloe McCarthy, Jana Hunter and Jacob Anderson

It is during testing times like these that charities like CARA struggle for donations. Academics, researchers and institutional leaders continue to be in danger and require our support. We look forward to updating you all on our progress and sharing photos from our routes.

If you would like to know more about CARA, please follow www.cara.ngo and if you happen to be able to donate, we will all be very grateful.
