Story
Hello everyone! Over the course of 2nd - 4th June 2022, we are embarking upon a mammoth trek from Ilkley to Windermere, known as the ‘Dales Way’.
This is an 82 mile walk through the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District, that is usually completed at a leisurely pace in a week or so. Instead, we are aiming to complete all 82 miles in 3 days, setting off from Ilkley on Thursday morning, to arrive in Windermere on Saturday afternoon/evening/night whatever it takes!
We are doing this in aid of a wonderful charity, TZ Rising, a charity based in Tanzania which was co-founded by local community member Inno and his friend Michael who happens to be my cousin!
The mission of TZ Rising is simple; to give hard working young women living in poverty the opportunity to receive an education in secondary school and then college or university, enabling them to be properly qualified to gain employment.
The money that is raised as part of this trek will support the girls in achieving their dream of achieving independence and a better life for their families through education.
Hannah, Isobel, Rory, Joanna and I are taking on this massive challenge with the hope to raise £2,000 for the cause, which is enough to fund an entire year of tuition for two of the girls in the program.
Any donations to help us to reach this total would be greatly appreciated, and go such a long way to help women like the lovely Eliza in the photos and link below. Of course, any words of advice or encouragement would also be warmly welcomed, and we will be sharing photos of our training and the big event itself in the coming weeks so keep your eyes peeled!
Thank you so much, The Dales Way TZ Team!
