Hi everyone!
Thanks for visiting the JustGiving page for Talk Like A Dalek Day 2010!
As you know, we picked 3rd April as it was the birthday of Peter Hawkins, an original dalek voice artist who was praised in issue 373 of Doc Who mag by Nicholas Briggs, the current artist for the daleks, cybermen and many great Who characters. We wanted to commemorate him by choosing this as our day.
We wanted to make it more than just fun - sure it's fun to talk like a dalek, but even better if you can do something worthwhile with it! Following the example of recent Facebook campaigns, we decided to set up this page to offer dalek speakers the chance to donate to the BBC's Children in Need. We felt this was fitting as the BBC will air the brand new Doctor Who, starring Matt Smith, on April 3rd - the same day that you will be talking like daleks! So whilst you are telling the checkout girl to exterminate those frozen peas, or asking for a pint in the voice of Dalek Sec, you'll also have a great chance to help children around the world have a better quality of life.
