Story
In July I will be riding a stage of the Tour de France, which will be an epic challenge for me personally. I'm completing this challenge in aid of Save the Children who do great work every year to improve the lives of children through better education, health care and economic opportunities as well as providing emergency aid in natural disasters, war and other other conflicts.
Training is well underway but if you can spare a few pounds/pennies to donate it would provide some added motivation along the way!
Below is a brief description of the challenge itself:
It will take place on 10 July 2022 on the same route as stage 12 of the Tour de France, between Briançon and Alpe d'Huez, i.e. 170 km with more than 4,700 metres of accumulated positive elevation gain, including the climbs of the Cols du Galibier and de la Croix de Fer along with Alpe d'Huez itself .
For the fourth arrival of the "Étape du Tour de France" in Alpe d'Huez,
it is an expedition full of historical symbols, as the route is based on that of 1986 Briançon-Alpe d'Huez stage, when Bernard Hinault won the last stage of his career in the Tour de France.
