Dale Bloomer's Worksop Half Marathon page

Worksop Half Marathon · 27 October 2013
Many of you that visit this page will know that I had a small problem during 2012 with Bowel Cancer. Whilst going through surgery and Chemotherapy I got to find out that there were many others who were worse off than me and it is the MacMillan Nurses that make such a huge difference to the quality of life of those sufferers. It is now time for me to "Give something back" for the kindness and compasion of those beautiful nurses.
Anyway, now to the background of the plan for a silly old fart like me to run and raise money for a good cause. Last October on my final session of chemotherapy I watched my neice Emily run the Worksop Half Marathon and I then promised myself and her that if everything went well then I would run the race with her this year. In late February I had my Illiostomy reversal and after a few months healing and gentle excersise I decided to "get at it". So I've been training hard to get myself back to my old fitness. I've run the race twice before and just because I'm an Old Fart that has had cancer, doesn't mean that your money is safe!
