Story
I am fundraising to help raise money for Tearfund's work in Yemen. Yemen is home to the worlds worst humanitarian crisis today with 22.2 million people in urgent need of humanitarian aid. The nation has been left devastated after nearly four years of conflict. Thousands of innocent civiliants have died and three-quarters of Yemenis can't access safe water, food, healthcare or sanitation. Tearfund's partners in Yemen are working tirelessly in very difficult circumstances to reach those suffering the most. They are providing safe drinking water and food for vulnerable households, and improving access to healthcare and hygiene advice to reduce the spread of deadly disease.
I will be attempting to walk these 26.2 miles in a bid to raise awareness and to give an opportunities for donations. It is devastating to think of thiss current crisis. In this bizarre lockdown period, it is baffling to think that war, starvation, and other diseases are still occuring, still corrupting the lives of millions. It was in my ignorance that I discovered the realities of Yemen's current situation. The world may be united by the confrontation of the virus, but we are not equal. We are privileged to have a healthcare system with resources, to have a united government, to be in a position to support those who cannot work, to have a community that can provide or those in need.
I am asking you to donate as a matter of equality and humanity. I do realise that some of us many not be in a position to give, or to give generously, but in the words of Mr/Mrs Tesco: every little helps. And even if you do not give, I thank you for taking the time to read this and pray that you also spead awareness.
Thank you.
