Story
Daisy was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when she was 16 months old. This means she has lived with this chronic, life long disease for three quarters of her short life so far. It will always be part of her...until a cure is found. Daisy is a happy, brave and inspirational child. But she needs regular, daily dosages of carefully calculated insulin just to stay alive.
We live with Diabetes and it is now part of our family. We believe that Daisy can do and be anything, regardless of her condition. But it would be amazing to not have to have every minute of every day governed by blood glucose levels, units of carohydrate, insulin and needles! For her to live a carefree day without feeling poorly, having to check what she east before she eats it and having finger pricks, needles and visits to the hospital as part of her regular routine. And for us parents to have a full night sleep without having to check if she is having a fatal hypo or to let her go to a friends house to play, without us there!
Hope is in a cure to help all those families living with this life long disease to have a break and for their children diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes to have the same opportunities as their peers to live a long and healthy life.
This is why we are joining many other families doing the Walk to Cure at Heaton Park on Saturday 22nd Sept. 5K will not be a quiet walk with a 4 year old and 6 year old, but I am sure it will be eventful and hopefully hypo free!!
Please support JDRF in their quest for this cure. Thank you for your support xx
