I will be running (jogging!!) the Great North Run in September 2017 for the amazing charity Tommy's- who fund research into pregnancy problems in order to save babies' lives.

As a student midwife (Soon to be qualified-hopefully!), I am so privileged to be able to work with, and help support women through their childbearing and birthing experiences! Fortunatly in the majority of cases, I have the best job in the world, and most cases have a happy ending. However one in four women lose their baby during pregnancy or birth in the UK- something that should never happen.

Tommy's are currently the UK's leading researcher into maternal and fetal problems, including miscarriage, neonatal death, and stillbirth. Their clinical research centre opening this year aims to reduce the number of miscarriages by 100,000 a year in just five years time, and their continuing campaigning and hard work provides 24,000 couples a year with clinical care, to turn what might have seemed like an impossible dream of having a baby into a reality. Tommy's target is to halve the number of babies that die during pregnancy or birth by 2030. Hopefully any money I can raise will help towards their amazing work!
