Story
In a ploy to get my new colleagues to think I am a decent person I am joining them to cycle 120 miles from London to Amsterdam this May. They have unfortunately explained I am not allowed to bring stabilisers, nor am I allowed to ride an e-bike. So god knows how I will get past mile 4.
We are raising money for Maggies. Maggies provide free cancer support and information in centres across the UK and online. They assist and advise on everything from the emotional, practical and social pressures cancer can have on a family dealing with the illness.
My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and underwent both chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I have, sadly, seen first hand what cancer does to not only the person going through it but their surrounding family and friends. Whilst my mum met her diagnosis stoically, head on and unwavering, the rest of my family and her close friends scrambled to make sense of our new normal. We would have been at a loss without the strong support we received during that turbulent time. Thankfully my mum beat her battle with breast cancer - but so many others continue to fight every day. Maggie's is a fantastic charity providing much needed support to anyone and everyone affected by cancer and they deserve our donations!
Please donate whatever you can, no matter how big or how small. And spare a thought for my numb bum.
