Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Over the past few years, I've seen far too many friends and family members having to deal with the shock of being diagnosed with various Cancers. I've said a final goodbye to three close friends over the past three years, taken from us far too early, leaving their families numb asking the question "why"? One of my friends lost his fight with Cancer whilst trying to raise funds in memory of another friend, he didn't quite finish the job he started. Nevertheless, I and other close friends finished the job for him.
Since these sad events, I have taken it personally and feel a need to try and make a difference and I live in the hope that soon we will have a cure for all Cancers, if not a cure, then a way of making the final stages of life more bearable for both sufferers and families who clearly go on suffering long after their loved ones have passed.
Even more personally, it has been over two years since my daughter was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma, only a very short time after her marriage to Jon, what should have been the happiest time of their lives turned into a nightmare.... after life changing surgery to fix her spine, and over a year of treatments, she had a reprieve and was told that the cancer in her body had gone. During that reprieve, Natasha used that oportunity to take the IVF Treatment, we were all really happy to get news that it had worked and were greatful for the break and the good news. Sadly, shortly after that great news, she was hit by a bombshell, the Cancer had come back.
She has been faced with the most impossible of choices over the past 35 weeks, regarding treatment, should she risk the babies health or her own? she chose the later. she will give birth to my baby grandson on 2nd Dec, but shortly after that she will have to go through the whole process of recovery whilst dealing with a long battle to rid her body of the Cancer again.
That is just one horendous account of what people, young and old have to go through, so I ask that anyone reading this is able to try and imagine how awful it would be if people had to go through the horrors of Cancer, knowing there may never be a cure.
Unless we continue to raise funds to seek Cures and better treatments, we may never see the day when we can rest assured that our grandchildren and future generations won't have to deal with some of the horrors that we have had too.
Please give generously if you can afford it, but either way, please support me in my fundraising efforts in anyway you can.
Thankyou.
