The Clonakilty Daffodil Day Dash is live!!! For the 2nd year in a row, Covid has stopped our regular fundraising efforts in aid of Daffodil Day, we can’t take to the streets or hold our annual coffee day, which would have been extra special this year as it would have been our 20th anniversary, but we have taken our collection online. This year, we are asking people to walk, run, cycle or swim any distance, within their 5K and in their social bubble and donate to our JustGiving page to support cancer patients and their families. Funds raised during Daffodil Day are used across the country to help the 44,000 people annually who will hear the dreaded words “you have cancer”. These donations are used to provide the Support Line, the Night Nursing Service, Counselling and so much more. Daffodil Day in Clon is synonymous with a gathering of people, having fun and banter and raising hundreds of thousands of Euro's for the Irish Cancer Society and ironically while Covid 19 has put a stop to this, it hasn’t stopped the cancer diagnosis, thousands of people here in Ireland have been diagnosed with Cancer over the past year and sadly so many more have lost their lives, in such difficult circumstances. Therefore, although our fundraising efforts have been curtailed, we still have to drive on and find new ways to fundraise. We will, as always, be counting on your support and we know you will row in again this year, as loyal as ever, because that is what has made Clon and the surrounding areas, one of the top locations in the country in terms of fundraising for the Irish Cancer Society. Together we can ensure that no-one has to go through their cancer journey alone.
