Story
Thanks for visiting our team fundraising page for Sport Relief 2018.
Dadminton was founded in the summer of 2015 by a group of fathers whose children attend Chuter Ede Primary School in Fernwood, Newark.
The current members of the group consist of Mark Rose, Terry Marsh, Jim Carpenter, Richard Morris and great guest appearances from Steve Watson. In addition, founding member Craig Winfield will also complete the line up. As is often the case with how these things start, we were sitting in the pub one evening discussing about doing a charity challenge and Richard came up with the idea of a 24 hour Badmintonathon.
We are going to hold a challenging 24 hour "badmintonathon" on Friday 23rd March starting at 7am going all the way through to 7am on Saturday 24th. The aim is for the five members (with the occasional guest appearance) to play constantly during the 24 hour period in a game of doubles with four people on court at any one time. This will be a great challenge to us as we're normally all exhausted after we play for one hour!!
We have chosen three charities to raise funds for and this page is specifically for Sports Relief.
Sport Relief is a biennial charity event from Comic Relief, in association with BBC Sport, which brings together the worlds of sport and entertainment to raise money to help vulnerable people in both the UK and the world's poorest countries. When you donate to Sport Relief, you support those living with mental health issues and provide lifesaving maternal healthcare for mothers and babies. You help those at risk of trafficking or domestic violence and join the global fight to end malaria.
Please do take time to visit https://www.sportrelief.com/about-sport-relief to understand more and read about their great work.
The 24 hour event is to be held at Newark Sports and Fitness Centre in Newark and could only take place thanks to the fantastic support from Active4Today Group there especially Lisa Shaw and Alexis Knock who we are extremely grateful to, for their co-operation and support.
We really appreciate all and any donations, small or large and if you are local to the area, any support in person on the day to cheer us along and raise our spirits would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you again for your kind donation! 👍👍👍
