Story
The sweet smell of jasmine, the sparkles in the water, the warmth of the Indian sun.
It was the summer of '03 and Mr. and Mrs. Rock were trekking up the Himalayan Mountains with their little rocklets. It was a journey that signified the start to a secret journey towards an end.
Mr. Rock knew the trek was going to be tough. It would test his little rocklets. As the going got tough, as the climb got higher, as the air got thinner, they were reminded; "what the mind can conceive...the mind can achieve."
Determination and motivation was the only medication that Mr. Rock needed to get his rocklets to the top. His rocklets just had to believe they could reach the top and all else would fall into place. He believed in his heart that if their mind could conceive...their mind would achieve.
The higher they got...the shorter the breath, the slower the pace.
...and that's where the journey starts.
Mr. Rock used his heart to help his rocklets believe so much that it got tired. It slowed down. It lost it's momentum. It's power was dying.
Such a big heart cannot fail. Such a big heart cannot collapse. The little rocklets ushered the same words: "what the mind can conceive...the mind can achieve."...in the belief that Mr. Rock's heart would get better.
...this was the start of Mr. Rocks secret journey of heart disease.
Mr. Rock's journey was secret because his rocklets would never know what was to happen nearly 10 years on in the summer of '12. A journey so secret that if they were able to apply the same words: "what the mind can conceive...it can achieve"...the little rocklets could have possibly changed the outcome for their Mr. Rock.
Mr. Rock was a strong Gursikh who believed that we have the potential to become and do whatever we desire...as long as we believe in ourselves. As long as we can conceive the idea of reaching our potential, our goals, we can achieve anything we put our mind to.
So here it is...the rocklets cannot bring Mr. Rock back. They cannot wish that RIP meant 'return if possible'. But they can let Mr. Rock's words live on through them.
On Saturday 11th July 2015, the Vraitchies, with an awesome team of their nearest and dearest, will be trekking the Yorkshire Three Peaks in 12 hours, for The British Heart Foundation. Every year we have kept Daddy Vraitch's memory alive through our challenges. Every year all you angels have supported us and shown us the love you have for us and Dad. 2015 sees us raising our target to £5,000!
So this year...I have the same request...please sponsor us by clicking on the link below because climbing these 'not so little' mountains won't be easy but... "what the mind can conceive...the mind can achieve".
RIP Jesinder Singh Vraitch
