Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Dawn and Jonathan are running for Overgate Hospice in April to raise as much money as we can for such a worthwhile charity

You all know what happened between January and April 2012... But here it is in a nutshell...

Early January, my dad fell, broke his femur and was rushed to hospital. He was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney which had spread to his bones, including his lower spine. He was transferred to Jimmy's in Leeds to start radiotherapy. Unfortunately it was diagnosed that his cancer was terminal with an unknown amount of time to live. During his time at Jimmy's he became paralysed from the waist down. He moved to Overgate Hospice on the 30th January where he was given 1st class care by an amazing team. He came home on the 27th February and stayed at home for another 5 weeks. He deteriorated extremely quickly in the first week of April and went back to Overgate on the 4th. Sadly he passed away very early on the 6th April!

We will never forget the nightmare 12 weeks at the beginning of 2012, but what we can do is show our heartfelt thanks to the Overgate Team for helping him through, and caring for him in his last few weeks.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thank you x
