Story
Over the past few months we have seen devastation and destruction take place in the blessed lands of Palestine. As someone who has been fortunate to travel to Palestine, visit Masjid Al Aqsa and the beautiful local people, I was deeply saddened and hurt to see the atrocities taking place. This has resulted in me making a personal commitment to avoid where possible, any relations with organisations and companies who support the genocide and ethnic cleansing taking place in Palestine.
As a Chelsea fan, when I heard that the owner had secretly donated $100m to a right wing group in Israel called Elad, I was left devastated. Elad is a group that is displacing Palestinians from their homes in East Jerusalem, particularly in Shaikh Jarrah as we have seen in the news.
This has led me to act upon my personal commitment to stop supporting Chelsea, as I could not support and give money to a club knowing the owner is financially supporting a cause that I am fighting against.
I have decided to team up with Muslim Hands to raise money for emergency medical care in Gaza. The idea behind the 100 mile bike ride actually came from Mr Abramovic’s actions. The $100m donated gave me inspiration to cycle 100 miles for Palestine. The ride will take place on the 26th June and I will be cycling across Derbyshire in order to reach my goal.
To put the difficulty of this challenge into perspective, it will take an estimated time of 10 hours to complete this challenge.
I would like to thank you for all your donations no matter how big or small they are and I would like to encourage you to continue raising awareness of the situation in Palestine.
JazakAllah
