I am asking for donations to Sue Ryder because they looked after Daniel in his final year before his death.
Daniel was a fighter, he suffered from a rare genetic disorder called Wolfram syndrome; It truly is a horrible disorder; he ended up blind and losing his hearing. But he never moaned or complained and he never let you know how bad he was. That is the sad part over with.
What can you say about my wee bro Daniel. He was amazing, kind caring and compassionate. Is that not always the way, the ones who get dealt poor hands always seem to give themselves more in that way.
Daniel loved life to the fullest, he loved Up Helly Aa and never missed a festival or the hall when he could avoid. Me and Daniel always joked that Up Helly Aa was in fact our version of Christmas lol. Just the energy he had that whole weekend was a joy to watch.
He loved his music as well, he would listen to all sorts of stuff but among his favorites were Kiss and Queen. He also loved wrestling (yes my fault sorry) we used to go to the old ACC and watch WWE when ever we could and even in his failing health he always loved and got a kick out of hearing the buzz of the crowd and just the atmosphere of the event.
Sadly Daniel took a turn for the worse at the end of 2019, and the tough call was made to put him into a home. Granted he was not too thrilled but then would anyone be. So March of 2020 Daniel got a place at Sue Ryder; and the staff looked after him really well; especially during the tough year we have all had to face with Covid. That also shows what a fighter Daniel was because he moved like the day before lockdown. So for awhile he was alone in a strange setting seeing no one; I know that was really tough on him. But eventually his mum Angela got to see him and that cheered him up,
I just want to end on a personal thank you to his adopted family the Mulherns. You gave Daniel the best and a extended life that he could of asked for. You took him from a horrible situation and made him a lovely happy person who was not bitter about his past. You have also always welcomed me as well. So thank you Angela and all the Mulhern and extended family for giving him a wonderful 31 year.
