Story
My son Lenny Harrison was born at exactly 24 weeks gestation on the 27/11/2013 at Epsom Hospital weighing just 1lb 13oz. He was transfered immediately to the Neonatal Unit at St. Georges Hospital in Tooting, South West London where he remained for 9 weeks.
During this time Lenny was on a ventilator for 5 weeks. He has suffered a Grade 4 bleed on the right side of his brain, a grade 2 on the left side. He has had 3 infections, a lumbar puncture, a hole in his heart, a blood clot on his lung, one heart attack, 9 blood transfusions, Stage 3 Retinopathy of Prematurity(ROP), Laser surgery on his eyes and 33 canulas inserted, 3 of which were in his head.
Lenny is still currently in hospital, although we are hoping he will be home within the next 4 weeks. Despite the above he is now 4lb 12oz in weight and only requiring a small amount of help with his breathing. Lenny will continue with numerous check ups over the next 2 years. We will only know if the severe bleed on his brain and issues with his eyes will have any permanant effect as time progresses but I'm sure you will agree that this little man is a true miracle already.
Myself and Shelley cannot thank the Consultants, Doctors, Nurses, Receptionists and the First Touch charity enough for the work they do and the support they provide.
