Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am participating in the London to Paris cycle event to raise funds for Kettering General Hospital in support of Crohn's and Colitis patients. This event constitutes 500 kilometers and 4,000 meters of climbing which I aim to complete in under 16 hours, equating to an average speed of 31.5kph.
This event was initially planned for July 2020 but has been postponed twice due to the COVID pandemic so hoping this is third time lucky.
I was diagnosed was Crohn's disease in October 2000 and suffered numerous flare-ups over a prolonged period, resulting in frequent, at times lengthy, hospital admissions. Whilst waiting for resection surgery, I was offered biological infusions to ease the symptoms. I now receive infusions every 6 weeks, which has not only negated the need for surgery but has improved my standard of living immensely. I am so grateful and appreciative of the NHS and the care team assigned to me , who have quite literally transformed my quality of life.
If you feel my fundraising is for a worthwhile cause, then please do support me in my quest to raise £2,000 for Kettering General Hospital. Any contribution. no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated.
I have already raised £900 on another platform (Virgin Money Giving) which has now closed down. Thank you to everyone that has already sponsored me, rest assured that your donations have already been transferred to Northamptonshire Health Charity.
Thanks
Cyril
