Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page.
Over the next 12 weeks I'll be swimming 22 miles across the English Channel to raise money for people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury.
My husband suffers from chronic back pain and has recently been greatly incapacitated due to acute pain in his upper back and neck - no joke intended - an injury which may require intricate surgery!
I'm an unfit, overweight 56 year old granny, and last week I launched my very own personal Silver Vixen Reclaim Your Body Challenge - to reclaim my body and fitness so I can enjoy my "ripe years" and my 2 lovely new grandchildren.
I'm also hugely grateful that, despite being involved in several serious car accidents, and despite suffering from chronic illness for 6 years, I'm still able-bodied, am now physically well, and can transform my current lack of Va Va Voom - whilst also contributing to a worthwhile cause. It's a win-win situation!
I'm part French and have always loved the English Channel, because it signifies going on holiday for me and all the excitement that entails. I rejoined my local gym last week and have started swimming 5 days a week, with the weekend off for good behaviour. I spotted the Aspire poster by the pool, was intrigued - and decided to go for it! Your support will keep me on my toes and motivated.
Every eight hours someone is paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury. It can happen to anyone at any time, and there is currently no cure. Every pound that I raise means that Aspire can provide practical help to a spinal injured person, allowing them to live a more independent life, so please donate as much as you can and help make a difference.
