Story
So here goes... I'm trying to raise a total of £400 for Cancer Research UK by participating in TumbleUp4Life and the 140Km Velothon Wales 2015.
I'm going to attempt to summit the Blorange 10+ times on May 9th 2015. That is over 4500 meters of climbing.
Then on the 14th of June, I'll be cycling 140 km in one sitting.
You're sat there thinking....Why am I letting myself in for this ordeal?
My Granddad Derrick was just diagnosed with cancer of the Esophagus and I wanted to do anything I could to help him in his fight against this honking disease.
When he was a young man, Derrick was a seriously keen cyclist. He used to cycle everywhere on his Raleigh Lenton and clocked several 100+mile rides with a fully loaded bike.
Participating in these two events felt right as cycling is a passion both he and I share. Any of you who cycle will know how tough it can be on a long steep climb or when your legs are so dead you can barely turn the pedals. I just wanted to do this as a show of strength and to show him he isn't alone in this battle.
Any donations would be seriously greatly received.
I'll be recording both events on Strava, videoing with the GoPro and keeping the photos coming thick and fast so you can see my progress and probably get a giggle out of my gopping pain face.
Thanks very much for reading. Please check out the event pages for more information on what I've let myself in for.
