Story
My name is Rodrigo and my brother Afonso and I are going to cycle from London to Porto for a cause.
The project:
The name of the project is ‘Cycling between Towers’ to highlight that we will cycle between the Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben) in London and Clérigos Tower in Porto (https://www.facebook.com/cyclingbetweentowers).
The travel route is not yet completely defined but will be for sure about 2,300 km long. The starting point will be next to the Big Ben on the 8th of August. We will then cross the English Channel at Dover to reach Calais, go down the French coast to Spain where we will follow the Caminhos de Santiago (the Way of St James) until Cape Finisterre in Galicia. From there, we will then cycle down to Porto.
The cause:
My brother and I have always been concerned with how stressful it can be for children to be hospitalised and away from home and family. For this reason, we dedicate this adventure to that cause. We could not find a charity that worked with children in both England and Portugal. Therefore, we decided to support a children’s charity in each respective country. In England we will raise money to Theodora Children’s Charity (http://uk.theodora.org/) and in Portugal to Operacao Nariz Vermelho (http://www.narizvermelho.pt/).
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
