UNICEF has been working around the clock to keep children safe in Ukraine since this conflict began eight years ago. Help UNICEF ensure that child health and protection services are sustained and families have clean water and nutritious food.

Story

The crisis in Ukraine

The conflict in Ukraine is devastating the lives of innocent people. Some of those most severely affected are children. Displaced from their homes, separated from their families and now facing an uncertain future. As a father myself I simply cannot imagine the heartache these families are going through. I cannot sit by and do nothing and it's for that reason I am raising money to support Unicef's fundraising efforts for Ukraine

Unicef's work in Ukraine

Helping to provide families with access to clean water

Delivering vital medical supplies and improving access to healthcare.

Increasing the number of mobile child protection teams to ensure that children have access to care and support.

To support and protect the millions of families who have fled Ukraine, Unicef are working with local governments across neighbouring countries and the UNHCR to create Blue Dot safe spaces for children and women. These spaces provide key information to families seeking refuge, psychological support, water and sanitation supplies, and help in identifying and protecting unaccompanied and separated children.

The challenge

For the second year in a row I am taking to the hills of Yorkshire to stretch my body and mental resilience to the max. I took up cycling during the pandemic so am still very new to this 'sport'. That means this will be a real challenge for me and I really need your support to get through it.

Last year I raised money for Cancer Research UK riding the Struggle Dales. This year to support the children of Ukraine I am riding both the Struggle Dales and the Struggle Moors. That's a total of 220 miles and over 19,000ft of climbing through the beautiful but brutal Yorkshire countryside.

One of these events is a significant challenge but attempting both just a few weeks apart is a huge task for an amateur rider like myself. I am essentially doubling what I did last year and in case anyone was wondering I haven't magically become twice as good as last year! This will be very hard.

Matched funding

I am pleased to say my company, Calls9, will provide matched funding of up to £2,000 towards the overall target.

The ask

Please give what you can. If you are a corporate business please share this with your management team or charitable trust. Please share this campaign with others who may be able to support me.

Please lend me your support and let's all come together to help these vulnerable children. They deserve all the help and support we can provide them.

Thank you.
