Story
The coming months are set to be tough for everyone, but Coronavirus will hit those affected by dementia the hardest. So that's why we taking on Cycle for Dementia. Please donate to support us and ensure Alzheimer's Society can be there for the people who need them most.
Myself,Lynn,Katie and Tom have committed to do 250 miles each during September 2020. We would like to do more than this if possible but if lock-down come's back that's about the most we could do in one hour a day of exercise.
As many of you out there may know my mum suffered baldy with Dementia, but being a strong minded woman wouldn't let it beat her so spent 5 years in care before finally stopping taking fluids then lasted a further 9 days. This same illness also affected my aunt Rene, my uncle Dennis, my uncle Peter, my grandmother (Insole) and great-grandmother (Smith) who were also strong minded and survived sometime with the illness before passing away. Lynn's aunt Gill also suffered the same fate and Lynn also spend much of her time looking after my mum if I was away either working or travelling.
We don't expect to get close to Sir Tom and his wonderful achievement but would like to do our small bit that might help those during these difficult times.
