Thomas Walter George Roberts 11th June 1932 – 24th April 2019. Tom, a caring Father, Grandfather & Great Grandfather. Professional Footballer for Birmingham City and Barrow FC. He also played Rugby for Standard RFC, represented Warwickshire in Athletics. He was a single figure handicap Golfer, loved Sailing and Fishing. Both Tom and Shirley (married 11th September 1954) were keen walkers and played an active part in the East Warwickshire Caravan Club. Tom worked for Desoutter Brothers most of his life and travelled to Japan, Brazil and Russia in the late 60s/70s on behalf of the Company.
Tom was diagnosed with early stages of Dementia in 2009 and sadly passed away 10 years later.
Kathleen (Kate) Torkington 11th November 1931 – 28th January 2019. Kate was born in Macclesfield before the war and thrived in School gaining the highest marks in the eleven plus across the Macclesfield area. She was also a keen sportswoman, playing Hockey for her School and a demon fast bowler for the Schools Cricket Team. She graduated from MU in the early 1950s and went on to develop a distinguished career in Education and Social Welfare. She lived and worked in The Hague for approximately 10 years for a large Corporation in their Philanthropic Division creating and managing pre-School projects around the world, but mainly in Africa. Kate was a bright intelligent and lively woman, but unfortunately developed Vascular Dementia in later life and suffered a stroke in 2017. Kate was a loving Mother to three Children, six Grandchildren and perhaps the biggest regret is she didn’t live to see the birth of her first Great Grandchild Lorcan.
