Story
Over the last year cycling has become a big part of my life. It's helped me to get fitter than I've been for 20 years and meeting with friends for a ride on Sunday morning has been great for my mental health too.
Sadly coronavirus has hit those affected by dementia really hard and continues to disrupt lives. My father in law was diagnosed with vascular dementia just over a year ago. Fortunately his illness is at a relatively early stage but there's no question it's made lockdown much harder for him and my mother in law.
So that's why I'm getting on my bike and taking on Cycle for Dementia. I'll be riding 500 miles throughout April. The plan is to start with my longest ever ride - 100 miles to Skegness - and to pack a few long rides in the Peaks in too. We had hoped to complete the Coast to Coast but restrictions mean that won't be possible until later in the year.
