Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
As ive struggled to reach my target to go to Chile.. i'm changing my challenge and cycling to Paris in the springtime, next year - plenty of time to get cycling legs :) and raise the target amount. So please keep on sponsering me!
Thank you very much for all the support so far. All the money, that i have raised so far has already gone to Computer Aid and will count towards my new target of £1300's.
So now i am looking forwards to cycling along the beautiful river Seine and one or two pain au chocolats!
I wanted to take on this challenge as im an IT person with many opportunities and it would be nice to give the same opportunity to children in less developed parts of the world. In the process it is also a personal challange for me. Your encouragement by sponsering me, would be hugely appreciated.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the easiest way to sponsor me: Computer Aid International gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Many thanks for your support.
My journey began in late March.
Late March
so far im preparing by swimming laps a few times a week, spinning and some aerobic exercise and cycling 8k a few times a week and on 10th April will be part of a team in the Haywards Heath Lions Club Swimarathon raising money for Riding for the Disabled and Clic Sargent by swimming lengths for one hour
Early April
19 kilometers on fairly level roads little bit easier now understanding gears better, but long way to go
Almost Easter
Team of 5 including Mona and Tara who are 11, swam 89x25 metre laps in one hour at local swimming marathon.. not sure where we came overall, but we're pleased especially Mona who is walking - well speeding, with crutches due to torn ankle ligament
3rd May
Two 13kms and today 16.5 kms cycle ride this week along the bottom of the Downs. Finding the small hills easier but a while longer before contemplate Ditchling Beacon.
16th May
24kms today and it was windy and hilly, cycled up Clayton Hill on the way home (near Jack and Jill Windmills). Wondering if i can break Ditchling Beacon into manageable chunks - maybe wizz down it first.
19th May
11.5kms in 45 minutes still windy and hilly
23rd and 24th May
11.5 and 19kms, warm and hilly.
Its 4 months to go and a month and half before 80% of the funds need to be raised. Please, if you are reading this, sponser me or i have Charity Paintball vouchers to sell. Each one is for 8 people for all the clothes, equipment and insurance and valid for almost a year at 35 locations around the UK. They are worth about £49.00's. If you are interested please contact me - infor@honeybeeswax.com. Thankyou
12th and 14th June
Shaken, bruised but not deterred - 25kms on both days. Cycling round where i live, looking for foxes playing in the fields in the early evening, lost my grip in a stony muddy puddle and almost flew underneath a bobwire fence but landed in the puddle instead. Working on the aerobics too but gently today.
11th July
im muddy and wet but made it up to the top of Ditchling Beacon and down.. wheeeeeeee
but very scary.. well by the long slightly easier Jack and JIll windmill way
16th July
Close encounter with four baby badgers at dusk that shot out all around me, sadly one went strait into the middle of the bike so fast i couldnt stop, but he ran away afterwards... bit worried for him.
19th July
Yesterday cycled around the area - 24kms and managed the small hills round here a bit better
Huge respect to the cyclists on the Tour de France - flowing up and down hills.
Charity Raffle for Computer Aid International at White Horse Pub in Ditchling
Big thankyou to the pub and all the local businesses who donated the wonderful raffle prizes - we raised £360's.
29th July
19 kms - no badgers crossed my path
22nd August
33 kms - Ditchling to Lindfield up on the High Wield in about 2.5 hours (little faster going back)
