Story

This year Abby, Joel, Dan and Chris will be cycling the North Coast 500 to raise money for a charity that supports adults with disabilities.

When Abby's brother Steff passed away suddenly in September 2015 he was only 27. It was a huge shock to our family and friends. Steff was such a happy person and his presence in our lives is missed every day.

Everyone who knew Steff knew he loved to sing. His favourite song to sing along to was “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by The Proclaimers. Because of this, Abby had the idea of walking 500 miles in his memory. Until we realised how long that would take…

Instead we’ve decided to cycle 500 miles around the north coast of Scotland, to raise money for an organisation that was special to Steff.

The charity Quarriers runs respite centres for adults with disabilities around the west coast of Scotland, particularly Riverview - which Steff attended for many years. More info here: https://quarriers.org.uk/services/riverview-respite/

The North Coast 500 route is an intense physical challenge. Over just nine days we will be cycling 500 miles and the equivalent height of Everest!

If you want to keep track of our progress, we’ll be posting updates on this blog! https://cycleforsteff.wordpress.com/
