Story
As one of the leading Disability Employment networks in the region, CVGT Employment staff & families from Echuca are all jumping on board this year to take part in Johnno's Run, a fantastic initiative of the Open Doors Project which builds homes for people with disability, enabling greater independence and inclusion within our community.
CVGT as a Disability Employment Service have 92 DES sites operating throughout 18 Employment Service Areas (ESAs) across New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania. The focus of the program is to assist participants with a disability on their path to gaining and maintaining employment. A participant’s path to employment is often not linear; ‘stepping forward’ means they are taking another step towards their employment goal, even if that’s stepping away from direct employment activities to focus on secure housing, mental health, or another higher priority.
We feel that our participation in this run will show our clients that we too are willing to "step forward", a lot of us out of our comfort zones to raise funds for much-needed housing that leads to independent living for those with a disability. "Better together" and "Community Matters" are some of the core values of CVGT and having staff from operations, corporate services and even the CEO taking part, it really does show that we are better together when it comes to helping our community.
So please dig deep, every dollar really does make a difference. Your donation will go towards the current Opening Doors Project which is building 2 units on Spoonbill Street in Moama.
