Race to Respond 2019 · 6 July 2019 ·

The Race to Respond is more than your average 10km immersive race; it is a physical and mental challenge designed by CARE International UK based on the experiences of our humanitarian workers in real emergency situations.

Story

The Customer Team, in support to Heathrow's international charity partner CARE International, has enrolled into a crazy and surely rewarding team challenge: The Race to Respond.

The Race to Respond is not an average 10k race - it is a physical and mental challenge designed by CARE International based on the experiences of humanitarian workers in real emergency situations.

It is about team work and an ultimate test to find out if we got what it takes to respond to an emergency, easy peasy right?

What a difference will this fundraising make?

Every year, CARE responds to disasters that affects the lives of millions of people around the world.

With emergency-response experts on the ground in over 60 countries, CARE provides emergency support with a heavy focus on building shelter, being recognised globally as an expert on shelter during times of emergency. Shelter is never more important than in times of crisis.

CARE is often among the first to respond when emergencies strike, but their rapid response is only the beginning. CARE remains with communities long after the TV cameras have gone.

Every team fundraising for the Race to Respond could provide approximately 10 emergency shelter kits, giving families affected by disasters the materials and tools they need to rebuild their homes.

Borja- "Some excitement in my life?  No, really I do want to help those in need after natural disasters. I have travelled a lot and witnessed first hand the horrible effects of these, and also the amazing attitude of life towards life of those who are affected of these completely unfair (and unpredictable) disasters. They do deserve any help possible, I'm just doing my bit".

Katie- "To raise as much money as possible for CARE

Mehenaz- "To create as many fun events possible for CARE within the next few months".

Nick- "Raise as much money as possible whilst having a fun, yet challenging experience!".

Carmela- "I would like to be more aware of the emergency work carried by CARE and dedicate time to reflect and being appreciative of what I have".

Nabeela- "Assist whenever I can in organising events."

Oriol- "To raise the greatest amount of money I can before the race!".

Eva- "To have fun and raise lots of cash for CARE".

Dan- "I think CARE is a fantastic charity and just want to do my bit to help and support it".
