Story
A group of dedicated employees have committed to take on the 3 Peaks Challenge in support of Joerns' long-term charity partner, Acorns Children's Hospice. Originally planned for 2020, but delayed due to Covid-19 restrictions, the challenge will be attempted over one weekend, starting on Friday 10th September in Scotland with Ben Nevis, the highest of the three peaks, followed by Scafell in England on Saturday and the final peak, Snowdon in Wales on Sunday! Team training walks have been taking place and will continue in a concerted effort to get everyone fit enough to mount a successful challenge!
At Acorns Children’s Hospice, dedicated teams provide specialist palliative care for life limited and life threatened babies, children and young people and support for their families. This support is offered from their three hospices based in Worcester, Birmingham and Walsall, as well as in the family home and community.
It costs around £10 million a year to run Acorns' care services in the hospices and community and as a charity, they rely heavily on generous donations from the community to fund the majority of its care. Quite simply, they wouldn’t be here for children and families without the support of wonderful donors and fantastic fundraisers.
Acorns has over 1,300 active volunteers who work in all areas of the organisation, including the hospices, fundraising and our chain of over 40 retail shops. You can find out more by visiting their website at www.acorns.org.uk.
Please consider donating to this incredible organisation. The selfless work they do in the local community is invaluable and we'd love to raise a tall amount for them!
