Online piano concerts to Care Homes · 23 April 2020
Curtis Elton LTCL ATCL will be performing piano classical light music live to residents in care homes around the UK by Zoom app virtual concert with the first of these on Thursday 23rd April.
17-year-old Curtis is raising money for Care Homes through Age UK in memory of his beloved Grandpa. He has already performed in-person to residents in several care homes around the UK before the lockdown. Now he wants to keep providing this service online to protect residents. The concerts are not just a passive experience but a mixture of music and Q&A with Curtis who really enjoys connecting with people.
Piano music is proving to be good medicine for people with Alzheimer and other forms of dementia. Research shows that while dementia causes progressive memory loss and impairment, memory for music remains. But music also helps bring people together and feel connected whatever their circumstances.
Most people will feel lonely at some point in their lives. It’s a deeply personal experience that - in most cases - will thankfully pass. Sadly, 2.65 million older people feel they have no one to turn to for help and around 3.9 million older people consider TV to be their main form of company. Donating to this page will help the national Age UK to continue providing vital services that offer companionship, advice and support for older people facing later life alone.
