Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In June 2014, our son Will was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a muscle wasting condition that will have a massive impact on Will’s life.
At the moment there is no cure, but research into new treatments that will slow the progress of the condition and reduce its impact is moving at in incredible pace. We want to raise funds that will speed up this research even further, to the point where it might be able to make a difference for Will, and other children of his age.
We want you to sponsor us on this huge challenge.
On Day 1, participants will individually, or as part of a 2 or 3 man team, cycle 115 miles from Whitby in North Yorkshire, across the North York Moors, through the Dales and into the Lake District to the East Shore of Lake Windermere.
On day 2, they will swim 1 mile across Lake Windermere, and then run a marathon (26 miles) across Cumbria from Lakeside to Walney Island.
Will, his big sister Beth, and little brother Barney will be part of this challenge as members of the support crew. The rest of the support crew are all volunteers. All of the money that is donated will go to the ‘Muscular Dystrophy UK Breakthrough Research Fund’ where is will be used to fund research into treatments for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
