Story
I'm #CommittedtoJVC! This fall, I will be moving to Philadelphia, where I'll be working as an Engagement Specialist with the Bethesda Project. While working, I'll be engaging with men experiencing homelessness and helping them transition into stable housing.I chose JVC because I wanted to become immersed in a new community and stand in solidarity with those facing oppression. I'm excited to commit to JVC's core values of social justice, simple living, spirituality, and community and use the skills I've learned at Marquette to "Be the Difference."
Each year, hundreds of young people make the decision to commit to a year or two of service with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. Jesuit Volunteers (JVs) engage in vital service within communities around the country. Send Me to Serve (SMTS) has two primary functions: (1) To help incoming Jesuit Volunteers and their friends and families to connect more deeply with the mission of JVC; and (2) To raise funds in support of JVC, which will help us continue to partner with over 200 non-profit agencies and provide vital service to tens of thousands of people every year.
