Story
***ALL OF YOUR DONATION GOES DIRECT TO SPINAL RESEARCH***
In May 2011 Steve was involved in a serious road traffic accident on his motorbike, resulting in a T3/4 spinal injury causing permanent paralysis from the chest down. He was 30 years old. At the time Steve was married to my sister Mari with a 4 year old daughter and Mari was also 6 months pregnant with their second child.
After emergency surgery and months of critical care at Frenchay specialist Spinal Unit, Steve spent time in Salisbury Hospital and Headley Court. Aside from the devastating effect this accident has had on his life, Steve's resilience and strength helps him deal with exceptional day to day challenges, which as a result of spending his life in a wheelchair, includes ongoing regular hospital stays to treat the conditions incurred as a result of his paralysis.
In October 2023, I took on a self-funded challenge to hike 3 mountain summits, in 3 countries in 3 days to raise money for Spinal Research. The challenge was incredible with a team of inspiring people and between us we raised almost £20k.
In addition I am organising other events to raise funds for this great charity, knowing that any donations made, really will make a difference to Steve's life and to others who have suffered a life-changing spinal injury.
