As many of you visiting this page will know, my wonderful wife Katie sadly lost her life recently to a rare heart condition known as Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD). 

No words can describe the pain and utter devastation myself, our children Henry & Heidi, parents Richard & Sally & brothers Paul & Chris, have experienced since losing Katie on Friday 19th July 2019. 

Katie was a really passionate person who encouraged and supported everyone to achieve their full potential regardless of the obstacles they might face. This shone through in her personal life with her friends & family and in her professional life as a primary school teacher. 

I know that Katie has now left this world but she will live with us in our hearts and minds forever. Katie would want all of her loved ones to carry on living a happy and fulfilled life. For myself, I intend to do this with courage for the sake of our beautiful children. 

Part of that journey, is to make efforts to support the BeatSCAD charity where possible. Please give what you can afford to help the charity fund future medical research and help raise awareness into this rare life-threatening condition that is silently devastating families like ours.

SCAD - A rare cardiovascular condition called Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is causing spontaneous heart attacks. SCAD is a rare yet devastating condition predominantly affecting young, healthy women. SCAD means the layers which form the coronary vessels of the heart tear away from each other. As a result, blood can collect between the vessel layers forming a blood blister which restricts or blocks blood flow to the heart. This leads to a SCAD heart attack.   

Little is known about SCAD and the condition cannot currently be predicted or prevented.
