Story
Hi.
Finally I completed my Solo jump on Saturday 24th July, the weather conditions were perfect. Clear blue skies, sunny and just a light breeze. A amazing experience which I will quite happily do again!!
Just a further update for the weekend 17-18th July even though its been clear blue skies the winds have been out of limits to do my jump, it has to be lower than 18mph. So frustratingly I have not been able to complete again. Hopefully Saturday 24th July will be better...
Just a update on my Parachute jump. Due to bad weather on Sunday 6th June my jump was postponed, I completed the days training so now I will be going back on July 17th to complete my Jump.. Weather permitting!!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been crazy enough to want to do a sponsored Parachute Jump, I am due to do this at Chatteris Airfield in Cambridgeshire . This involves a static line solo jump on Sunday 6th of June after 1 days full training on the Saturday.
Some people may want to push me from an aircraft but luckily for me I get a parachute!!
Static line means the parachute deploys automatically ( I hope!!) once I jump from a height of 3500 feet.
I am doing this for a charity close to my own heart being a ex-service man myself, so will be doing it for Help for Heroes.
Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry in October 2007 out of a desire to help the wounded Servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq. The message of the charity is simple: They are strictly non political and non critical; simply wanting to help. Believing that anyone who volunteers to serve in time of war, knowing that they may risk all, is a hero. These are ordinary people doing extraordinary things and some of them are living with the consequences of their service for life. We may not be able to prevent our soldiers from being wounded, but together we can help them get better.
The current focus of the charity is to create a series of regional Recovery Houses to be built across the UK and serve as the last stage of rehabilitation before a serviceman, or woman, returns to their unit or transits back into civilian life. Our current target for this is to raise £20 million by October 2010 and while the support has been amazing, there is still a way to go.
Help for Heroes do have running costs but for the first year these were so low that 98p from every £1 donated was available for grants and they aim to continue operating at a similar level.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I would be most grateful and appreciative if you would like to sponsor me for this, so please dig deep and donate.
Thank You
Ian
