Craig's abseil for MAG

Fundraising for MAG (Mines Advisory Group)
We did it!!! The original attempt was postponed due to high winds, but on the revised date of 4th June 2011 I abseiled down the National Lift Tower here in Northampton (aka the Northampton Lighthouse) in aid of the Mines Advisory Group (MAG).
MAG is one of the world's leading landmine clearance organisations, working to reduce the suffering caused by the prescence of landmines and unexploded bombs.
I have abseiled before, but not for over 15 years and this time it was down the outside of a 420ft (125m) lift testing tower. If you stand at the bottom of it, it looks huge - and these things always look worse once you're at the top!
I've updated the photos on this page so that you can see what it looked like from the top, and that I managed to keep smiling for the 10 minutes or so that it took to get down the outside of the tower!!
The charity needed everyone to raise a minimum of £200 to cover the cost of the event. I sponsored myself for the £200, so those costs were covered and all further donations will go straight to MAG.
This page is still open, so if you haven't yet done so please donate whatever you are able to this good cause!
