Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
When I was having treatment and a stem cell transplant for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma I decided my little girl was too young (5) to understand, so to protect her childhood I told her I was working away. I wouldn’t have seen her for the many weeks I was in hospital had it not been for Maggies, as I would sneak out of the ward and meet my wife and daughter Ava in Maggies. The staff would make such a fuss of her she would ask to go randomly for years afterwards, like it was a day trip. She only found out recently it wasn’t a day out to go to Maggies!!
I hope to raise a bit of money to help others use Maggies in the future. I’ve been really lucky as I have had cancer 3 times, been told to get my affairs in order and expect the worst twice, and had a syndrome that meant I had to learn to walk again, but I’m still here! However, this means I’m not going to be breaking any course records so don’t ask for my time afterwards, or your money back if I don’t finish!
I am doing the Ali Brownlee 5k, boro 10k then finally I will be doing the main run with my Dad who is 60, doing his first ever Great North Run and only finished his cancer treatment at the start of 2022!
