Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Well, I did it!!!!!
I swallowed a lungful of lake water, got a puncture and occasionally wanted to die, buuuuut...
Was VERY pleased to get to the end, there were only 100 of us in my race and so we got a chance to chat while getting ready...
And to a man they all seemed to be serious triathletes, I was one of only 3 charity 'athletes' ... All the other charity dudes were in the shorter race...
I came out of the swim 3rd from last :) and finished the whole thing 7th from last, but my aim was always to finish in under 3 hours and to get to around 2 and a half hours if possible and if I hadn't got a puncture in the last lap of the cycle I think I would've beaten the 2 & a half mark!
But as it is, I am really happy with 2h 34m
I had a huge inner battle all the way thru the run, I've never had anything like it.
All the way round, part of me was saying 'just slow to a walk, recover for a bit and you'll feel better' but the other part of me was just more obstinate and kept saying 'No! Don't stop, one foot in front of the other, you can do it, soon be over, time to rest then' - I had that going on for an hour in my head, it never let up. I am immensley pleased I didn't stop, that alone was worth all of it!
PS - I lost about a stone and a half, and I plan on keeping up the training, so watch this space for the next challenge...
If you've sponsored me already, thank you so much for the support, it helped keep me battling...
If you haven't, but would like to, it's not too late...
...Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Leukaemia Research gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
