The ME Association campaigns hard to get ME recognised as a severe neurological illness. Our helpline provides essential information and support to adults and children who have ME/CFS, and to their families and carers. We also fund biomedical research into the physical nature and causes of ME/CFS.

Story

Our lad Barry (18) has suffered from chronic fatigue following a virus five years ago.  You feel so helpless watching him battling both the fatigue and the 'brain fog' (inability to think clearly).

And YET... he is a brave overcomer!  Barry has chosen to use his precious energy so carefully, producing a canon of written works, drawings, paintings.  Throughout all his testing he has enriched our lives with his kindness, generosity, humour, and wisdom beyond his years.

Barry had very little secondary education (although Brechin High School were fantastic) but despite that, he's started a degree in Arts and Humanities, specialising in Creative Writing, at the  Open University.

Nonetheless, he is one of the #millionsmissing, and I'd like to raise something for the ME/Chronic fatigue association, to further research into effective treatments for this debilitating illness.
