Story
Yes, I did it! I planned the run and ran the plan and got under my target time of 5:00 hours. 4 hours 54 to be precise and it was an incredible experience which I would recommend to all. I cannot begin to explain the extraordinary support from the crowd, the family and the Whizz-Kidz guys who gave us a siginificant lift each time we saw them.
High point = running the last 2 miles with Richard Branson - he was a bit slow so I had to push on the the finish without him.
Low point = now 2 days on - it's all over and my lower body is not in the best of shape. The mountain has been climbed and there isn't another one there to focus on at the moment, so it's a bit flat!
Would I do it again? - ask me in a few months. Just now I am not sure, although I am not ruling it out.
Thank you all for your huge support. I couldn't have done it without it. Also, your donations are definitely going to a great case helping handicapped kids to have a chance of living an independant life like my kids and others take for granted.
Take care
Craig
Hi!
Yes, I am going to try and heave my vast frame around the London Marathon in aid of a great charity called Whizz-Kidz. Now that I am 40 (yes 40, I know I don't look it!!), I have decided no longer can I watch everyone else from the comfort of my sofa on the last Sunday of April pushing themselves to the limit with sore nipples and gangrenous blisters. It just looks too much fun!
Whizz-Kidz is a charity that is all about giving disabled children and young people the independence to enjoy an active childhood – at home, at school and at play. By providing them with customised mobility equipment, training, advice and life skills, they actually give them something much more important; the independence to be themselves. They make an immediate and life changing difference to their lives and their families. Visit http://www.whizz-kidz.org.uk to find out more, and get involved.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Thank you so much
