Story
I am running the Brighton Marathon on Sunday 10th April 2022 for Societi - The UK Foundation for Kawasaki Disease, to help protect childrens Hearts.
Kawasaki disease is a serious childhood illness and can have the most devastating effects, causing lifelong and irreparable heart damage to children. Due to a lack of funding and awareness, Kawasaki Disease is not very well known.
Why Kawasaki I hear you ask? well, we have witnessed first hand the devastation this serious childhood disease can have on a childs life and their family, when our dear friends Andrew and Lucy Patterson's son Stanley became seriously unwell. Their whole lives were turned upside down, hospital visits, specialist care, medication, lifestyle changes and the constant risk of further heart problems.
So, it is actually an honour to do my small part, in raising some much needed funds for a charity that means so much to them. Your kind donations will go a long way to support worried families, train doctors and fund greater research.
I am sure I also heard mutterings of, why the marathon? Quite simply, unfinished business! It will be 10 years since I last attempted the daunting 26.2 miles, and on the eve of my 40th birthday, I want to prove there is life in these old legs yet!
