Story
On Sunday I’ll run Cardiff Half Marathon and then Newport Full Marathon (now moved to April) in support of the work that Velindre Cancer Centre do. Velindre provides services to over 1.5 million people suffering or recovering from Cancer in Wales and beyond. Mum had all her treatment there and although it brings back the toughest of memories, it’s a Hospital that shows such support and kindness to patients and their families at the hardest of fights in life.
This is why I’m choosing to wear their vest when I run. I need no motivation at all to dig in deep when I think of what so many people are facing right now.
I do have a justgiving page which I’ll attach below as some people have asked but I’m not doing this for money. I don’t like asking for anything and honestly don’t expect a single penny. The true reason why I’m doing this is to highlight the importance of detecting Cancer early so that you have the best possible chance of beating it. By catching cancer early you could save your own life. It could be anything from a mole on your skin changing, frequent headaches, a lump that’s growing etc. As worrying as it is, it’s best to be cautious and get a doctors opinion which could mean that somebody still has a brother, sister, mother or father in life which no money can ever buy.
While I have my health I want to do this to raise awareness and support to anyone that’s got concerns for their health, and if I can help just 1 person then that’s a success.
I haven’t done much running due to injury but I had a go at Swansea 10k two weeks ago (my first ever event) and felt good, so I’ll give these next two absolutely everything and promise to get the job done 💚
