Each academic year, East Sussex College Hastings runs a variety of different fundraising events in order to support their chosen charity. This year, the college has decided to work closely with St Michael’s Hospice.
St Michaels Hospice provides crucial care for those facing life-limiting illnesses, as well as support for their families. They need to raise over £4.3 million every year just to help with the running costs of its services, such as: The In-Patient Unit, Day Services, Hospice at Home, Volunteer-led Hospice Neighbours, Bereavement Services and Night Sitting.
In order to show our support, the Sport and Public Services team at Hastings college made up of Craig Ottley, Dan, Marsh, Pete Matthews, Jon Emson and Adam Nichols will be taking part in three big events during 2019 to help raise funds for the Hospice. The first event comes at the beginning of March, when the team and their Personal Training students take part in The Nuts Challenge – a gruelling 7km obstacle course through a water assault course, mud, climbing walls, crawling tunnels and challenging obstacles all the way round. However, there won’t be too much time to recover as the second of three physically demanding events is just two weeks later – The Hastings Half Marathon. The final event of the year falls in November, where the team will tackle the mighty sand dunes and scorching temperatures of the Sahara Desert in a five-day trek
