Story
In 2019, my wife Karen Mellor was diagnosed with cancer and despite bravely enduring this terrible disease for 2 years she finally succumbed to it in January this year. Throughout the latter stages of her illness she and our family were supported by the Countess of Brecknock Hospice (COB).
Although Karen remained at home, during some very dark and difficult times the staff at COB were there 24 hours a day providing their incredible support. These people do a remarkable job in very difficult situations and rely on outside support to deliver their outstanding level of care when it’s needed most.
This is why I have chosen them as my charity when I attempt the Isle of Wight ultra challenge on the 10th July 2021, where I will be attempting to run, walk or crawl around the coastal path of the Isle of Wight, 106KM (66 miles in old money) in less than 16 hours.
Any donation will be greatly appreciated and used to help continue the unparalleled care and support COB provide.
The Countess of Brecknock Hospice provides respite and palliative care to adults suffering from life-limiting illness who live in Andover and its surrounding villages or who have a connection with the area, together with comfort and support for their families, friends and carers. We are hugely reliant on voluntary donations to maintain the exceptionally high standard of services and care we provide. Put simply, if we don't support the Hospice, it won't be there to help when it is needed.
