Update - 11/09/23

Not a day goes by when we don’t think of our precious baby girl, Abbie, and how much we miss her and wish she were here today. We are still heartbroken and fundraising helps us keep our beloved Abbie’s memory alive at the same time as raise funds for the organisation who were there for us during the most difficult time of our lives ❤️‍🩹🦋 xxxxx

Hi Everyone

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to every single person/company who have supported us in our quest to raise money for this excellent and important Charity. £11, 695 to date, with offline donations still to be included, WOW!!!  Words cannot express how grateful and appreciative we are, thank you.

We did it!!! 😃. It took us 4 hours and 15 minutes to walk around Millport, the views were awesome and the weather was fabulous, until the last 20 minutes 🌧️😆. The sense of achievement was overwhelming when we reached the end point. We did it, AGAIN, for Abbie, through great determination and the fantastic encouragement of each other.

Thank you for being there Janice, David, Alan, Tony, Helen, Linsay and Mark, you are all very special to us and we couldn’t have done it without you. To our extraordinary and wonderful daughters, Sophie and Hollie, we are so incredibly proud of you 😘😘.  WELL DONE beautiful girls, you are AMAZING and we are the proudest parents EVER 😁🩷 xxxxx

Thanks again EVERYONE, you have touched our hearts and your generosity will help Ronald McDonald House, Glasgow continue to do what they do, which is help families at a time when they need it most. Until the next time…........

Lots of Love, as always

Abbie 3rd Walk

Hi Everyone

We thought we would update our page to let you know that we are doing another walk in memory of our beautiful daughter, Abbie, with all funds raised being donated to Ronald McDonald House, Glasgow.

This will be our third walk.  The first one is detailed below, along with our story, and Abbie's 2nd Walk, which took place 5 years later, involved close friends and family climbing Ben Lomond which was a personal achievement for us all when we successfully reached the summit and the sense of pride is something we will never forget, knowing that we did it for Abbie.  Although we used sponsor forms that time, all funds still went to our chosen charity and in total, so far, including online and offline donations, we have raised a massive £8,764.30.  This would not have been possible without the enormous generosity of you all and for that we are truly grateful as all money raised goes to help families, like us, be provided with a close-by, free and welcoming place to stay when their sick child is in hospital, a support we never imagined we would need and are indebted to have received.

On Saturday 9 September 2023, 11 of us, including Sophie and Hollie, Abbie’s little sisters, who are now 14 and 11, will walk the 10-mile trip around Millport to again raise funds for this amazing cause.  We would be grateful if you could donate even the littlest amount you can manage as every single penny adds up and we are trying to raise as much money as possible to help the charity continue to provide the invaluable comfort and support to other families for many years to come.

Thank you so much and we'll update you all soon.

Love, as always

Abbie's Walk

On Saturday 12th October 2013, myself and some special friends and family are doing a sponsored walk to raise money for Ronald McDonald House in Glasgow.

Ronald McDonald is an independent charity which provides free accommodation for families whose children are long term or critically ill patients in Yorkhill Hospital.  Every year it provides accommodation for over 600 families and to do this it needs to raise in the region of £400,000 each year.

As many of you will know, Debbie and I had a beautiful baby girl, Abbie, on 28 June 2008.  Abbie was born full term at the Royal Alexandra Maternity Hospital but had difficulty breathing due to a condition known as 'meconium aspiration' and was transferred to Yorkhill Hospital that day.  Sadly, Abbie passed away 2 weeks later.

This was such a traumatic time for us and it is only now, 5 years later, that I feel I am able to do something positive in memory of our beautiful daughter.  Ronald McDonald House was an invaluable support during this time, allowing us to be as close to Abbie as possible.  My wife and I experienced first hand what the Charity offers and wish to support this worthwhile cause to continue to help as many families as possible.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  If you would like to donate, you can do so through JustGiving which is simple, fast and totally secure.  Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.  Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity.  So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you so much, every penny is greatly appreciated.
