Craig's R9 Haircut - Turn Blue Monday Bright, 16 January 2023
Blue Monday is thought to be the day when many people struggle with their mental health, after Christmas. The Headlight Project want to raise awareness of mental health issues and give people a reason to smile with their campaign to turn it bright!

Story

As a professional working in mental health it's widely recognised that men find talking about their mental health so much more difficult. Sadly, death by suicide is the biggest killer for men under the age of 45, this is an epidemic we simply cant ignore.

Blue Monday is known to be the most depressing day of the year, so we pledge to turn it bright by doing something silly - the R9 haircut!

The message is clear - if anyone asks me why I am supporting such a stupid haircut it gives the opportunity for conversation and education about men's mental health.

Founded in memory of Russ Devereux, the Headlight Project aims to reduce the number of deaths by suicide in the Tees Valley, which has one of the highest regional rates in the country. We aim to achieve this by providing therapy to those bereaved by suicide, and delivering preventative education and training to schools, local businesses and the community.'A guiding light when the road ahead is dark...'
