Story
In less than 3 months I’ll be trotting the London Landmark Half Marathon in memory of my amazing Dad.
Sadly losing his battle in December 2021, my Dad spent previous years standing up to his illness with bravery and courage, truly becoming an inspiration to everyone who knew him. But it was through the remarkable work of AN that ensured a life extension back in 2015, providing his friends and family with 6 further years of largely positive memories in his presence. Without AN, my daughter would never have met my Dad and, without AN, I wouldn’t have witnessed them both have the most amazing times together.
For those that know me well, running doesn’t come easy to me. I’m certainly no athlete. But with just under 3 months of training underway, I look forward to getting through the LLHM with my Dad looking over me and spurring me on.
For those that don’t know the work of AN, please see below. Hopefully they won’t be needed, but they may need to help someone close to you one day:
Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. We do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. We also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. We won’t stop until we save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings us closer to that day.
