Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Last year I completed the Great North Run, although at times it was tough it was such a great event and a privilage to take part.

This year I wanted to run the event again but also push myself to complete a few more things on my to do list, therefore in July 2013 I will be cycling 140 miles from Whitehaven to Newcastle doing the coast to coast over 4 days.

Then in September 2013 I will be again running the Great North Run, the worlds greatest half marathon from Newcastle to South Shields - the full 13 miles.

And if that isn't enough just a month later I will then be running in the first ever York Marathon, 26 miles of road runnign through the streets of York and the surrounding area. People think I'm crazy to inflict so much on my body, but it's all for a good cause and this si where you come in. I'm doing my part by doing these events I beg please make it all worthwhile by donating whatever you can for my cause.

The William Rhodes Appeal for Diamond Blackfan Anaemia UK (DBA UK).

DBA is a rare blood condition usually diagnosed before 12 months of age. Patients fail to produce red blood cells properly and may need treatment ranging from monthly blood transfusions to regular steroid treatment, and in some cases a bone marrow transplant. The disorder affects only 125 people in Britain.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I am running and cycling in the name of William Rhodes who unfortunately has DBA, At the age of 4 William has already received 60 life saving blood transfusions and is on weekly treatment five times a week over 8 hours at a time to help remove the excess iron from his major organs, caused by the numerous blood transfusions. If not treated the iron overload would be fatal. William is an amazing brave child.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thank you.
